BEST TIME TO VlSlT

Mid September to mid December, then again, from mid March to mid June is considered the best time to visit Arunachal for trekking when the sky is clear and the cold weather is bearable. December, January and February months are bitter cold months when upper regions of Arunachal are under heavy snow and temperatures below minus zero degree.

HOW TO REACH

Guwahati is the gateway to the North East including Arunachal Pradesh. Guwahati is well connected by train and air both from Delhi and Calcutta. Jungle Travels head office is located in Guwahati and Itanagar in Arunachal Pradesh Jungle Travels staff will meet you on arrival and arrange transfer to your destination.

WHAT TO BRlNG

We suggest you travel light. It is advisable to bring warm clothes like sweaters and jackets as you may face single digit temperatures, which at times go below zero degree. Walking shoes, binoculars, insect repellent, personal medical requirement, and torchlight will come handy.

ENTRY FORMALlTlES

Indian tourists wishing to visit Arunachal Pradesh require an Inner Line Permit, which will be arranged by Jungle Travels. Foreign Tourists require Protected Area Permit valid for a maximum stay of 10 days. This must be obtained at the Indian Missions/Embassy abroad if you are visiting the North East. Foreign tourists are allowed to visit Arunachal Pradesh in groups of minimum 4 persons on the recognised tour circuits and all travel arrangements should be arranged by a recognised travel agency.

ACCOMMODATlON

Accommodation will be in tented camps provided by Eco Camp (at Bhalukpong) and Jungle Travels elsewhere. These tented accommodations are basic but clean. Toilets are not attached. Wherever available we have also used government Tourist lodges / Circuit houses in Arunachal.

ITINERARY

Guwahati - Bomdila - Tawang - Bomdila - Guwahati.

Day 01 : ARRIVE GUWAHATI BY AIR

Meet and assist by Jungle Travels staff at the airport. Transfer to your Hotel. Lunch upon arrival. Evening visit 'Kalakshetra', a place where Assamese history and culture is depicted in a sprawling enclosure. Return to hotel. Dinner and overnight.

Day 02 : GUWAHATI - BOMDILA

We will be driving up to Bomdila in Arunachal Pradesh today at an altitude of 8000 ft. Check into your hotel on arrival. Afternoon visit Gompas(monastery) market. Return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight.

Day 03 : BOMDILA - TAWANG

After breakfast we drive to Tawang at 10200 ft. On the way we will be crossing the Sela Pass at 14000 ft, the highest motorable pass in the Northeast. Check into Private Lodge. Evening walk around Tawang town. Dinner and overnight.

Day 04 : TAWANG

Today we will visit the famous 400 year old Tawang Monastery of the Mahayana sect of Buddhism. Intermingle with the lamas ( monks ). Other interesting places are Nunneries, Kushinang - the birth place of the 6th Dalai Lama, Art & Craft center. Afternoon visit a MONPA village, the local tribe of this area. Evening visit market. Dinner and overnight.

Day 05 : TAWANG - BOMDILA

We drive back to Bomdila today. Overnight at hotel.

Day 06 : BOMDILA - GUWAHATI

We come down from the lofty mountains to the plains of Assam as we drive down to Guwahati. Check into your Hotel. Evening visit emporiums to pick up souvenirs. Dinner and overnight.

Day 07 : AIRPORT TRANSFER

Today you will be transferred to the airport to catch your outgoing flight.

2. HILL TREKS & TRIBALS

ITINERARY

Guwahati- Itanagar - Ziro - Daporijo - Along - Pasighat – Dibrugarh

Day 01 : ARRIVE GUWAHATI BY AIR

After breakfast leave for Itanagar. Lunch on the way. On arrival check into your Hotel. Dinner and overnight.

Day 03 : ITANAGAR - ZIRO

Today after breakfast we will visit 'Itafort', (from which the city has derived its name) ruins from the 15th century, then set off for Ziro. Visit a village inhabited by NISHI tribes. Lunch on the way. Check into your Hotel. Evening visit local market. Return to hotel. Dinner and overnight.

Day 04 : ZIRO - DAPORIJO

After breakfast we will be visiting APATANI villages and then proceed to Daporijo. Enroute we will visit TAGIN and HILL MIRI villages. On arrival check into Government Lodge. Afternoon the Meghna Cave Temple, some distance from Daporijo. Check into Circuit House/Lodge. Dinner and overnight.

Day 05 : DAPORIJO - ALONG

After breakfast in the morning we drive to Along. The main tribe of this area is ADI GALLONG. We will visit their villages on the way. On reaching Along we will visit local market and museum. Check into hotel. Dinner and overnight.

Day 06 : ALONG - PASIGHAT

We are going to Pasighat today. Visit more villages on the way. On arrival we check into hotel. Evening sight seeing of Pasighat town. Dinner and overnight.

Day 07 : PASIGHAT - DIBRUGARH

After breakfast we start our journey to Dibrugarh. Along the way we will cross the mighty Brahmaputra river by ferry. Check into a tea guest house. Evening walk around Dibrugarh town. Dinner and overnight.

Day 08 : AIRPORT TRANSFER

After breakfast visit a tea garden and then you will be transfered to Dibrugarh airport to your catch outoing flight.

Day 09 : KHONSA

Making Khonsa our base we will be visiting Kheti and Lajo village inhabited by the NOCTE tribe. Overnight at Khonsa.

Day 10 : KHONSA - LONGDING

After breakfast we proceed to Longding. On the way drop in at Wakka village. On arrival check into Circuit House. Dinner and overnight.

Day 11 : LONGDING

Whole day at Longding. Visit WANCHOO villages. Come back to Circuit House. Dinner and overnight.

Day 12 : LONGDING - KHONSA

After breakfast we drive back to Khonsa. Overnight at Circuit House.

Day 13 : KHONSA - DIBRUGARH

Drive to Dibrugarh and check into hotel or the tea garden bungalow once again. Evening walk around Dibrugarh town. Dinner and overnight.

Day 14 : AIRPORT TRANSFER

After breakfast visit nearby tea garden and see tea manufacture. After early lunch drive to Dibrugarh airport to catch out going flight.
